David McFarland

Siouxland YFC Board Member

Where and when did you get started with YFC?
I became involved with YFC in 2014 in Sioux City, Iowa as a board member.

How did God get your attention that he wanted you to become a board member for YFC?
I retired in 2014 and I wanted to stay involved with programs that help youth in the community.  After a 39 year career in Law Enforcement I’ve seen many needs for youth coming from dysfunctional families.  I wanted to help an organization that focuses on youth, YFC is a great fit.

What ways has God created you to uniquely come along side kids and this ministry as a board member?
My wife and I have been youth leaders in three different churches for 25 years.  We have always had a heart for youth.  My wife was raised in an alcoholic home and we have worked together to teach youth that they do not have to repeat the behavior or use it as an excuse to fail.

How would you describe your family?
We raised two boys who are married and have their own families.  We have five grandchildren. Grandchildren are truly a gift from God!  We raised our boys with Christian values and did the best we could to give them an example of what a loving marriage looks like.  My wife Terry and I have been married for 39 years.  Both of our boys married Christian women and are very active in their own churches and passing Christian values on to their young families.  The blessing of two daughter-in-laws have finally given my wife the daughters she never had.  God has truly blessed our family.
