Judy VandeZandschulp

Siouxland YFC Board Secretary

Where and when did you get started with YFC?
I have been on the board of YFC for a little over a year now.  Before that I had attended the MASH luncheon, the Golf Tournament, and Comedy Cafe, so I was aware of YFC and their ministry.

How did God get your attention that he wanted you to become a board member for YFC?
A fellow board member thought of me because I have an accounting background and the person on the board with an accounting background was leaving.  The timing seemed to be in God's hands.

What ways has God created you to uniquely come along side kids and this ministry as a board member?
God has repeated made it clear in his word that we are to look after "orphans and widows" and I take this to mean the young and the older generations.  We are to nurture and care for them.  YFC is an organization that clearly wants to impact youth, especially those less fortunate or in less than ideal home situations.

How would you describe your family?
I have been married to Harlan for 39 years.  We have no children but we have three cats.

What is your educational or professional background?
I have an accounting degree from Briar Cliff college and am currently getting my Master’s Degree in Applied Biblical Studies at Moody Theological Seminary.

What is (are) your favorite foods? books?
My favorite foods are strawberries and raspberries.   The Bible is my favorite book.  I also love to read books by Heidi Baker (missionary/ministry) in Mozambique.  Her book “Birthing the Miraculous and “Compelled by Love” are favorites of mine.  I also love “MegaShift” by James Rutz..

What are you reading right now?
I just purchased “I am Malala – The Girl who stood up for Education and was Shot by the Taliban” and plan to start it next.
