Siouxland YFC’s Story
Siouxland Youth for Christ was envisioned by a group of parents and church leaders concerned about local teens. The halls of their schools, streets, and neighborhoods were filled with teens who were having difficulty navigating the challenges of adolescence. Since 1978 Siouxland Youth for Christ has worked with thousands of young people, learning their stories and bringing them hope in five local counties to explore their faith and a relationship with Christ. Over the years SYFC has grown in influence as a unique relationship-building ministry with adolescent teens in middle and high schools, detention centers, alternative schools, teen centers, and youth-oriented camps and venues. It has been a remarkable journey to date, and we are uniquely positioned to multiply our influence in the days ahead sharing the Gospel of Christ with the teen culture of Siouxland.
Jesus shared the Gospel through story, so we share and listen to stories—to every story
YFC is a Christian movement, with over 140 chapters across the country.
YFC pursues young people who often feel overlooked, to build relationships at pivotal moments.
YFC partners with local church and like-minded organizations to reach young people.
We believe the Gospel comes to life in the overlap of God’s story, our story, and a young person's story.
From starting at a new school to becoming a parent, from choosing a job or a college to moving for the first time or the 10th time, from experiencing loss or trauma to spending time in a juvenile institution —11-19 year olds face some of the most pivotal moments of their lives; moments that can shape their entire story.
Shaping Our Story
We know how a pivotal moment can shape a story, because we’ve been through them ourselves. We also know that young people experiencing pivotal moments often feel over-looked and under-served, walking through their story without someone in their corner.
Since 1944, we’ve had an unwavering commitment to meet 11-19 year olds in pivotal moments, and to introduce them to the hope of Christ. From holding rallies with Billy Graham in the 40’s, to entering campuses to reach students in the 60’s, to now empowering community leaders to build meaningful relationships with young people everywhere—it’s our aim to walk with young people through their story, and to be the friend and mentor that we’ve longed for ourselves.
Uncovering God’s Story of Hope
When we welcome God into a pivotal moment, we invite Him to uncover His story of Hope in our lives, and to give life to our story. He is the life in all of our stories
Give Life to Your Story
A way of life that guides followers of Jesus to be good news as they share The Good News.
3Story® is the phrase we use to describe how we live in relationship with God and others. We use three circles to represent these stories—God’s Story, my own story and the stories of young people. When the circles overlap, it means friendship is growing, trust is building, transformation is happening.
3Story® helps people who love Jesus stay tightly connected to Him so they might become good news as they talk about the Good News of God’s love. It’s a lifestyle we pursue. We want to be people who love like Jesus loves us, who serve as Jesus serves and who are consistently drawing near to God for the sake of young people.
We pursue 11-19 year olds who are walking through pivotal, story shaping moments; like navigating a new school, becoming a teen parent, spending time in a juvenile institution or simply enduring the culture of social media. Young people often feel marginalized. As we live 3Story® lives, we represent Jesus who is steady and trustworthy so that young people feel seen, heard and valued.
