From Lost to Found

Hi, my name is Joslyn. When I was young, I wasn’t really much of a believer in God. I grew up with my dad and went to church up until 6th grade, but it felt forced on me. Even though I didn’t understand it at the time, I’m very thankful for that foundation. After I stopped going to church, I completely lost my faith and I started to lose myself right along with it.

I met Shaylee Jones, my best friend, in 6th grade and we’re juniors now. She was always involved at the Underground or going to YFC camps. I admired the way she would talk about the Underground and all the activities she got to do. She invited me to a YFC camp that happened in November of last year. I went and turned out to be completely life-changing! At YFC camp, I met so many others who were in the same place I had been – just waiting for the right time to give themselves fully to God. That weekend became my moment. I said “yes” to God and started to live for Him, rather than for the world and what everyone else was doing.

As soon as we got back, I was ready to keep going in my faith. I started coming to the Underground more often and also began attending church with our leaders Drew and Matthew. After a while, I was blessed with the opportunity to be baptized by Drew and Shaylee.

Drew asked me, Shaylee, and a couple other people at the Underground to join the Emerging Leadership Program, which has taught me so much and brought me closer to everyone around me. It has also changed my perspective in so many ways. I am beyond thankful for YFC, and all of my leaders, and all of the volunteers.
