Serve Youth In The Juvenile Justice System

Join our movement of volunteers who are passionate about introducing 11-19 year-olds to Jesus. We’re not looking for perfect people or superstars; just those who are willing to listen well, to be themselves, and to be present in a young person’s life!

For more information about volunteering with Juvenile Justice Ministry (JJM), contact Paul Rhodes, South Regional Director, at paul@siouxlandyfc.org.

  • Juvenile Justice Ministry Advocates are matched with students in juvenile detention or treatment facilities to build trusting, Christ-centered mentorship relationships. Advocates serve as positive role models, offering guidance and support to young people who may lack such influences in their lives, with the hope of leading them to know Jesus. Volunteers should have a passion for working with at-risk youth and the ability to commit to weekly engagement for at least one year. The role includes in-person or phone meetings, consistent prayer, and other assigned duties.

  • JJM Bible Study Coordinators organize and lead weekly Bible studies for small groups of 4-5 youth in juvenile detention or treatment facilities. They share biblical lessons and foster meaningful, Christ-centered relationships with the participants. Coordinators must have a passion for working with at-risk youth and the mission of JJM. The role also involves praying for the youth and maintaining consistent communication. This role requires 1-2 hours per week with a minimum one-year commitment.

  • The JJM Small Group Leader will organize and lead Bible study or small group sessions for youth in juvenile detention or treatment facilities. This role focuses on building relationships with young people, sharing biblical teachings, and providing spiritual guidance. Coordinators are expected to connect with youth both in person or over the phone and pray for the individuals they mentor. A passion for working with youth and a commitment to the mission of JJM is essential. This role requires 1-2 hours per week with a minimum one-year commitment.
